Opportunities for Ongoing Partnership

There are several ways to partner with Nazarene ministries and missionaries in Romania including giving, serving, and praying opportunities.

OPPORTUNITIES TO GIVE

All donations are tax deductible in the United States and all projects are considered approved missions specials in the Church of the Nazarene.

To give online: click on each project title below to be redirected to the corresponding giving page on the Church of the Nazarene's website. 

To give by check: Make checks payable to “General Treasurer, Church of the Nazarene.” Be sure to include the project title on the memo line for it to be credited to the appropriate account. Mail checks to:

Support a Ministry Project:

Romania Local Church Sustainability Project: This initiative partners with local churches by developing local resources and forming a long-term strategy for sustaining the local church. Click here to read about this project, which began in 2021. We are now in the 5th year of the original 5-year project, but we are now preparing to extend this project by providing additional support in a few new areas for the next few years. Our emphasis is currently on training local church leaders.

Open Door Foundation: Open Door is an NCM-partner organization that provides a shelter and legal services for survivors of human trafficking. Its close connection with the Bucharest Blessing Church of the Nazarene has seen many of these young women give their lives to Christ. Click here to read more about Open Door.

Veritas Romania: Veritas is an NCM-partner organization in Sighisoara, Romania, that provides social services to children, adults with special needs, and senior adults. Click here to read more about Veritas.

Child Sponsorship: Nazarene Compassionate Ministries partners with Veritas in Sighisoara, which is a NCM Child Development Center. (Note: if you do not see any children from Romania listed on the website, it means that all eligible children are currently being sponsored.)

Support a Missionary

André and Brenda Berkhout: André and Brenda arrived in Romania in May 2025 to serve as NCM coordinator in Romania. They serve on sponsored deployment.

Jonathan Phillips: Jonathan has been a missionary to Romania since 2009 and has been Romania District Superintendent since 2021. He serves on sponsored deployment.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE (LONG-TERM):

Local Church Associate in Bucharest, Romania: A long-term position to help revitalize the local church in Bucharest, Romania, through preaching, music, and outreach.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE (SHORT-TERM):

Team: Sighisoara Church Maintenance: Short-term Nazarene missions Team opportunity to help with construction projects for the Sighisoara Church.

Team: Open Door Foundation (Bucharest): Short-term Nazarene Missions Team opportunity serving survivors of human trafficking and offering building repairs.

OPPORTUNITIES TO PRAY

Here is a short list of ways you can pray for the Church of the Nazarene in Romania:

• For the 3 local churches (Bucharest Blessing, Sighisoara, Tigmandru): for their pastors; for evangelism opportunities; for in-depth discipleship of church members; for compassionate ministries in their communities; for identifying and equipping leaders
• For NCM-partner organizations (Open Door in Bucharest & Veritas in Sighisoara) as they minister to marginalized and vulnerable people
• For the healthy development of the local churches and the Romania District to grow and become sustainable with Romanian leaders 
• That the many administrative tasks (legal, financial, organizational restructuring, etc.) will be resolved as quickly as possible and won't consume unnecessary time and energy 
• For future church-planting initiatives to take shape
• For Romanian Nazarenes to be called into ministry and equipped through European Nazarene College's Romania Learning Center and online Digital Campus.
• For missionaries serving in Romania (Jonathan Phillips and André & Brenda Berkhout)
